Mr Lawlor said it was more important than ever that the Queensland tourism industry celebrated its strengths through events such as the Queensland Tourism Awards.
“This year, Tourism Queensland has taken a different approach to staging the Queensland Tourism Awards,” Mr Lawlor said.
“The format of the function had been streamlined to a be particularly cost-effective during these challenging economic times but it will be no less glamorous in the process.
“The Queensland Tourism Awards are about acknowledging and rewarding businesses in Queensland’s tourism industry for their innovation, achievements and ongoing hard work.”
Tourism Queensland CEO Anthony Hayes said nominations for the awards were open until 28 August.
“The Queensland Tourism Awards is the premier event for the state’s tourism industry, recognising the achievements of tourism businesses across 29 categories,” Mr Hayes said.
